The grounds were extensive, but nothing to exciting to see. The kids liked running around though and going up and down the fantastic staircase! Here's a picture of Karen, Tyler, Olivia and I at the top of the Chateau.
When we left we planned on heading to another Chateau, but the kids fell asleep in the car. So we ended up just driving the long way back to our campsite. Along the way we stopped by a grocery store and picked up food for our time in Onzain. While dinner was being cooked, the kids played in the playground and bouncy house at the campsite. The campsites we stayed in during our trip were pretty nice, the cabins were 3 bedrooms with a kitchen and bathroom, they had playgrounds, a pool, bouncy houses, and a tennis court (not that we played!). After we put the kids in bed, Karen, Bernie, Andrew and I continued drinking wine and had a tart for dessert....one of the many we had on our trip!
The next day we headed to Chateau Chenonceau. This was my favorite. It's on a river and had these beautiful gardens.

We managed to finish relatively early so we decided to head to the Chateau near our Campsite. Chateau de Chaumont-Sur-Loire was up on a cliff overlooking the Loire river.
The Chateau was pretty, but not kept up as well as the others we had seen. We then headed back to the campsite for another night of grilling, bread, cheese, wine and tart!
Our last day in Onazin we spent not going to a chateau but instead in the town of Vendome. It was this cute little town with lots of canals running thru it. It was beautiful!
We picked up sandwiches at a bakery for lunch and ate in a park. It was so nice and relaxing! We walked thru the Holy Trinity Abbey, which is from the 11th century. I love old churches, they have so much character and history!
We then just walked thru the streets and came across this art installation that was so clever:
Since it was a warm day, when we got back to the campsite we took the kids for a swim in the pool. They loved it! They had these twisty slides that they loved going down with their daddies and Olivia enjoyed these bubble jets they had. After swimming, you guessed it, another dinner of grilling, bread, cheese, wine and tarts! : )
This makes me sad - I want to go back!!!
